7 Days of Ice Cream

As you must know by now, we absolutely LOVE eating ice cream. And that is why we are saddened by the fact that the National Ice Cream month is ending in just 7 days. To celebrate the last remaining days, we have decided to feature our 7 favorite ice creameries in Los Angeles.

As an added bonus, if you share your favorite ice cream parlor and tag @hangrydiary on Instagram at any time until the end of this month, we will pick one photo and regram it on our page on August 1st. Be sure to participate!

1. MILK (IG: @TheMilkShop_LA)
At MILK, you get the best of both worlds: a perfectly creamy and sweet ice cream sandwiched in between two fresh and chewy macaroon cookies. And for those days when we forgo our diet and decide to indulge, there’s nothing better than a scoop of the blueberry crumble ice cream with a side of their classic blue velvet cake slice.

2. Carmela (IG: @carmelaicecream)
No matter which Carmela location you visit, you can count on getting a scoop or two of their signature flavors: lavender honey, earl grey tea, mint with cocoa nibs, salted caramel, cucumber sorbet, meyer lemon olive oil, and much more. With so many great flavors, the hardest part is choosing the flavors I want for that day.

3. McConnell's Ice Creams (IG: @McConnellsIceCreams)
McConnell’s take their creamery craft very seriously. Their unique, made-from-scratch flavors are hard to beat. The lines might be long most days, but that’s because most people can’t resist sampling many of their delicious flavors. And once you’ve picked your flavors, make sure to get them served on a waffle cone!

4. Wanderlust Creamery (IG: @eatwanderlust)
Wanderlust boasts the following slogan: “Artisanal Ice Cream Inspired by Travel.” True to this phrase, indulging on their ice cream flight will feel like taking a trip around the world, from the cherry blossom flavors of Japan to the mango sticky rice of Thailand to the Kinder Bueno of Italy!

5. Salt & Straw (IG: @saltandstraw)
You no longer need to take a trip to Portland to enjoy the deliciousness that is Salt & Straw ice cream. Classic Portland flavors have been brought to LA, along with additional flavors that are unique to LA and crafted with locally sourced ingredients. In particular, try the honey lavender flavor, which combines the deep floral scent of California grown lavender with the hint of sweetness of honey.

6. Jeni’s Ice Cream (IG: @jenisicecreams)
Having first tried Jeni’s while living in Chicago, I was extremely happy when I heard that they were opening their stores in LA. On my first visit to the LA location, I revisited my favorite flavor, the Riesling poached pear sorbet. Yum! Tasting this masterfully crafted ice cream flavor felt more like taking a bite of a fruit dessert, rather than just eating an ice cream.

Locations:

1954 Hillhurst Ave, Los Angeles, CA 90027

7. Sweet Rose Creamery (IG: @sweetrosecreamery)
If you’re a fan of mint chocolate chip ice cream, check out Sweet Rose Creamery. Out of the hundreds of mint chocolate chip flavors I have tried so far in my short lifetime, Sweet Rose’s creation ranks amongst the top. Be sure to try out some of their other great flavors that are crafted with fresh non-GMO ingredients.
